Highways Agency admit their contractors did no cleaning for 3 month in north west
The maintenance contract for Highways Agency Area 10 (see map) was awarded to Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald commencing on 4th November 2012. It was made under the terms of the Agency’s much heralded new Asset Support Contract. Amid growing concern about the subsequent deterioration in standards I submitted a . I asked for copies of litter picking records. It their response the Agency stated:
“Our agents prior to 4th November 2012 were AOne+ who were managing under a Managing Agent Contract. Our agents prior to 4th November 2012 were AOne+ who were managing under a Managing Agent Contract. The first attachment (Litter Summary) gives details of the litter picked on the network by motorway. There was nothing recorded for the final month (October 2012) of their commission”.
“Since 4th November 2012 Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald have been our agents. In the first two months of BBMM’s commission there was no litter picking undertaken“.
So in October the Agency seems to have let the old contractor get away without doing any cleaning. Even more staggeringly the new contractor did not feel obliged to do any cleaning in their first two months on the job!
